My own experience of CST (Craniosacral Therapy) with Donovan Hean:
I think it took 3 sessions and all my back ache was totally resolved.  I live with constant back pain due to my scoliosis and when I went to Donovan, I was doubled over with pain.  After 3 sessions I was standing straight and didn’t feel any pain for about 2 years after the sessions.  I have recommended Donovan and will continue to recommend him – a professional therapist.  thank you!

Why I chose to come for CST (Craniosacral Therapy):

My own experience of CST (Craniosacral Therapy) with Donovan Hean:
Donovan worked at our families pace, which is so refreshing not to be bullied into restriction. When Mallick did not feel like going for sessions, the sessions were put on hold for a while, and then we resumed our regular appointments again.  Mallick saw Donovan for CST for approx 4 years. During this time Mallick started making eye contact, he would wear clothes for most of the day, he started wearing shoes, brushing his teeth and hair became a  pleasure, time between tantrums increased, and the length of tantrums decreased, and he started talking with us instead of to us.Mallick is now a fully adjusted, well socialised young boy, haapily enjoying mainstream ‘normal’ schooling.

Why I chose to come for CST (Craniosacral Therapy):
I have back pain issues.
How would I rate Craniosacral Therapy:
I enjoyed my sessions enormously and would recommend Donovan and CST to anyone who is looking to resolve their health or emotional trauma issues gently and effectively.
My own experience of CST (Craniosacral Therapy) with Donovan Hean:
During my session I experienced the sensation of the cerebospinal fluid travelling up and down the spine, which was amazing. I realise that the way Donovan works with you during a session, allowing the body to release it’s tension and stress through specific holds he uses, is very powerful and especially noticable the next day and in the days after as your body heals itself.

Why I chose to come for CST (Craniosacral Therapy):
I had had a mini stroke and had headaches and a numb left side. I’d tried a number of therapies when I saw Donovan’s name and what he does. I phoned and he explained CST to me. He has worked through my problems. Through sessions with him I’ve understood how body organs are connected to my spine. I’ve also grown in spirituality through interacting with him. He is patient, kind, generous and a man of integrity. I count him as a valued friend now.

My own experience of CST (Craniosacral Therapy) with Donovan Hean:
Approximately 3 years ago, I made contact with Donovan. I found his details off the Cranio website for Durban practitioners and I selected him as a therapist……… Donovan has seen my family (children now age 6 and 4) through much hardship, trauma and healing and has shifted much for us.  Donovan is just incredible. He is a solid, well grounded individual who is honest and always acts out of love and integrity. I have absolute faith in Donovan as a Craniosacral Therapist and a friend. Without him, our lives would not be as rich. I honor him hugely for what he is doing each day to make a difference in the Now.
Thank you.

Why I chose to come for CST (Craniosacral Therapy):

Dearest Donovan,

It’s been some months now since Giorgia and I saw you last, and I apologise for not being in touch sooner – just too much going on to put my fingers to the keyboard and give justice to my thanks. Now, with a quiet moment, I hope to do just that!

Giorgia is now 7 months old, is crawling, pulling herself up and if she could walk on her own she would! She has such a curiosity for all that is around her, is jabbering away in her baby-talk language and engages with all who encounter her – her beautiful smile goes all the way to her big brown eyes and everyone finds her absolutely enchanting, most of all ME!

It’s almost impossible to remember that little colicky baby of a few months ago and the desperation I felt at not being able to placate her and appease her discomfort. I’m so glad we found YOU! The cranio-sacral therapies you did on Giorgia, were, I believe, the turning point and it was such a relief to see her ‘condition’ improve, the crying subsiding and the nights grow somewhat calmer.

But it was more than this: your gentle manner, patience and generosity of spirit made our visits extra special and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all these dimensions.  I’m quite sure your caring and healing hands have helped create the easy smile that lights up Giorgia’s face every day….thank you, thank you, thank you!!!

With love and a big warm hug from,

Amanda and Giorgia

Big hug from Us to You.
Amanda

Why I chose to come for CST (Craniosacral Therapy):
I came for CST because I knew Donovan, and felt comfortable with his energy.  I didnt know much about the actual process, but having started it, I could feel the energy move and shift.  It makes sense, releasing trapped energy from the spinal system.  Working with Donovan was one of the best experiences on my healing journey.
I came to Donovan because I was in a very bad place, in a relationship that had turned bad, lacking the courage to remove myself from it, and making myself very ill in the process.  I worked with Donovan for nearly a year before I allowed myself to see what my problem was.  We worked through A LOT of stuff that I had carried for years.  He was just incredible, calm, insightful, patient, caring. After months of feeling I couldn’t wait for the next session, I woke up one day and felt ‘it is done’.  I phoned to tell him, and he said ‘I know, it is done”!

In January 2005 I began taking my 8 year old daughter (Zama) for Craniosacral Therapy with Donovan Hean in New Germany (Durban). He kindly took into consideration that I could only come on a Saturday morning, and she began having regular sessions every 2nd Saturday morning for an hour at a time.

Before she began this therapy my daughter:

1. Did not make eye contact with anyone.
2. Rocked to an fro on furniture.
3. Made high-pitched shrieking sounds.
4. Did not respond to requests or instructions with her parents or caregivers.
5. Did not talk.
6. Did not help herself in any way.
7. Did not cry.
8. Did not sleep at night which meant either her father or myself had to stay up with her.
9. Did not like being touched, or held or shown affection.

When we started her sessions, Zama was a difficult patient because she was restless and did not want to sit or lie down. He had to work in 5 minute sessions. She did not like being touched at all, and would not allow it on her first session, so he worked with me to teach me how to hold her head so she would get used to it. Gradually, she began getting calmer and allowed him to work on her, and now allows him to work on her from head to toes.

We began t notice changes in her behaviour as follows:

1. She started making sounds of talking trying to call her dad and her mum and some other easy words to identify what she wanted.
2. She stopped the rocking to and fro.
3. She began to cry when distressed to show us she was unhappy.
4. She began sleeping through the night (and some days does not want to get up in the morning).
5. She is becoming more affectionate all the time.
6. She now looks at you which she never did.
7. She is discovering her world, like light switches, where her juice and food is kept and helps herself, arranges objects (like my mantelpiece).
8. Will follow simple instructions, like when she is called to go and bath.
9. Calls us Mum and Dad.

Donovan encouraged me to get her into school and I finally found a place for her at Whizzkids for 2006. He felt she was ready to begin a new chapter in her lift and that school would speed up her progress in other areas, which it has done enormously and she absolutely loves school and her friends.

I intend to continue with this wonderful therapy to keep the progress she has made going. If you have a child with Autism I would seriously recommend you to try this therapy for your child, it has made SUCH a difference to both Zama and our family life. Please call me if you would like to discuss our experience, or you are welcome to call Donovan directly on 082 928 5692 to find out if your child will benefit. It worked for us and it could work for your child too!

Dear DonovanRE: LEAH’S TREATMENT FROM 2 OCTOBER 2004 – 2 JANUARY 2005

I would like to thank you for making a difference in Leah’s life, and also to give you a report-back on her progress that we have experienced so far.

When you and Leah met she had no facial features or character. Leah now has a very definite look that separates her from the rest of us. Leah used to be very puppet like, performing any action you asked. Now if we call her and ask her to do something which doesn’t suit her, she either ignores us or say’s no. She has become an individual in her own right. She used to ”drag” her left foot (this side being affected by cerebal palsy). She was also ”Flatfooted”. She doesn’t drag her left foot anymore, she actually runs on tippy toes, dances like a fairy and jumps and hops like a healthy frog. She used to fall and because she was so floppy with no limb control she never bruised or cried. She now falls, gets scratched and even draws a little blood. She now occupies her body fully and is very present in the way she holds her body upright. She used to be skinny and as straight as a plank. She has filled out (she now has a bottom and her thighs and calves are defined).Because of her speech impediment, children younger than her would bully her. Now she stands up for herself and allows no one to bully her. She is firm but never nasty. She stands up with love and respect for who she is. Her vocabulary used to consist of about 5 words. Now she has about 30 words, all in the space of 3 months. She has also grown in the space of one month by 33mm’s.Leah was not very affectionate. She would only hug and kiss if persuaded. She now hugs and kisses from a space of desire and not from copying. She used to have a head shaped like an egg. Her head is now round and not oblong. She used to be very restless and could not sit still for 5 min’s. She now can lay down, give you the honour of sacred attention for more than an hour at a time.

Leah has finally come into her own, is a peace with herself and the world and for this gift Donovan we have you to thank.
May God Bless you on your journey of healing.
